Who We Are

Who We Are?...We are a local group in Kingman, Arizona that started with myself Stephanie Meza looking to start a Chapter off of the Brain Injury Association of Arizona. I actually went to them one day (approx. 2004) when I was in Phoenix and asked them if I could start a chapter here because there were no services in Kingman, AZ for my daughter who sustained a severe TBI in 1996 when we were hit by a semi-truck on the freeway, leaving her in a coma for 4 days. I am sure that they laughed at me when I left, but I met some great friends that I will have for life and they helped me get where I am today. I got a call from a man named Jack Cohen, he got my phone number from the Brain Injury Association of AZ (BIAAZ). Funny thing was he wanted the same things I did. So, we started working as a team, and this is how we began the group that we are today known as "Kingman Area Traumatic Brain Injury Group."

We meet monthly at the local hospital (actually attached to the hospital), called the Del E. Webb Wellness & Rehabilitation Center. The address is KRMC's Del E. Webb Wellness and Rehabilitation Center
1719 Beverly Ave.
Kingman, AZ 86401

7-9pm 2nd Friday of Every Month

Please contact Stephanie Meza if you have any questions or need any information on brain injury prior to the meeting so that I can get that for you. I will be happy to talk to you at any time day or night so don't hesitate to call me, this is my job to help you, your family, and your friends. I will be starting a class on 9/19/2008 that will certify me to be an advocate for people with special needs. This class is called Partners in Policy Making. At the end of the class I will be presented with a certificate. I can then go into schools and help people with their IEP meetings as they wish that I help. and help people legally with other advocacy issues having to do with special needs. This class is going to benefit my group tremendously. I am also going to college to get my Bachelors of Science in Psychology. This degree is going to help me with all of the issues that we face day to day with Traumatic Brain Injury. If you have any questions please send me any email or give me a call.

Thank you, Steph Meza
