Who We Are?...We are a local support group in Kingman, Arizona that started with myself Stephanie Meza looking to start a Chapter off of the Brain Injury Association of Arizona (BIAAZ). I actually drove to Phoenix one day to talk to the President at BIAAZ and told them that I wanted to start my very own Chapter (a Chapter is another office of the Brain Injury Association of AZ), I did this in 2004 and that is how I got started with the support group. If it had not been for BIAAZ I would not be doing what I do today.
I wanted to start at least a support group here in Kingman, AZ because there are virtually no services here. Kingman, AZ is what a person would call "rural" AZ. I wanted services here in Kingman, AZ because my family was in an accident in 1996 that left my daughter with a severe TBI.
We were hit by a semi-truck on the freeway, leaving my daughter, whom was 2 years old at the time, in a coma for 4 days. I am sure that the Brain Injury Association of AZ laughed at me when I left, but I met some great friends that I will have for the rest of my life and they helped me get where I am today.
We meet monthly at the local hospital (actually attached to the hospital), called the Del E. Webb Wellness & Rehabilitation Center. The address is KRMC's Del E. Webb Wellness and Rehabilitation Center
1719 Beverly Ave.
Kingman, AZ 86401
7-9pm 2nd Friday of Every Month
Please contact Stephanie Meza if you have any questions or need any information on brain injury prior to the meeting so that I can get it ready for you. I will be happy to talk to you at any time day or night so don't hesitate to call me, this is my job to help you, your family, and your friends.
Thank you, Steph Meza
